BALLET / 1- 1 1/2 HOUR WEEKLY: Ballet is
the foundation for all dance training, and while it is not required, it is HIGHLY
recommended for all students. Dancers will work to develop proper alignment
and posture, stretch, strength, flexibility, correct technique, vocabulary
and the discipline necessary to progress in the beautiful art form. POINTE / 1 HOUR WEEKLY: Pointe is a
natural continuation of ballet technique that is studied only when a dancer
has developed sufficient strength in the feet and legs necessary for this
demanding discipline. Students under the age of 10 years are not allowed into
this class. Any student taking pointe class must,
in addition, take at least two ballet classes weekly. TAP / 1 HOUR WEEKLY: This percussive
class incorporates tap technique and a variety of music to help develop a
strong sense of rhythm, timing and musicality. Elements such as syncopation,
improvisation and shading are introduced as the student progresses through
each level. Vocabulary and history are included to that the dancer becomes
familiar with what is known as the true "American" art form. It is
recommended that a jazz or ballet class be taken in addition to tap, to
enhance the student's overall technical development. JAZZ / 1 HOUR WEEKLY: Through jazz
technique students will increase their stretch, strength, flexibility, rhythm
and endurance. A variety of styles including theatre dance, funk and hip hop
combine with contemporary and traditional music to produce a fast paced and
athletic approach to dance training. LYRICAL / 1 HOUR WEEKLY: This form of
dance incorporates both ballet and jazz elements to tell a story through
movement. Dancers work to increase strength, flexibility, control and balance
with the emphasis being placed on developing the emotional or expressive
qualities necessary to perform lyrical dance. HIP HOP / 1 HOUR WEEKLY: Hip Hop is a
fast and upbeat class which begins with both stretch and strengthening
exercises. Dancers learn the newest moves as seen from our current pop
performers. This is a fun and challenging class and students will increase
their flexibility, strength and endurance. ACROBATICS / 1 HOUR WEEKLY ( ages 7-10): Students will increase their strength and flexibility as
well as balance and coordination as they learn tumbling and acrobatic skills.
